This is such a great book. I like the fact that she takes the songwriting process and breaks it down into manageable steps so that I keep moving forward with my writing! A 'must have' for any songwriter

Tough to rate, depends a little on what you are looking for.

I'm delving into songwriting and came across this and another book of hers after discovering her youtube videos (which I found entertaining and informative). My goal was to have a better understanding of the process of writing so I wasn't aimless. I don't feel that this helped me much I've read about 5 books now, and can honestly say that I can't remember one tip that I've personally used from either book (the other book was 'study the hits', which I don't even remember - suggesting that I didn't take anything from it.)

Now, that said... there are some people for whom the book will be much more useful. One of my downfalls is that my music theory is weak and I have no ability to analyze and pick apart songs in a technical manner. So If she says to deconstruct a favorite and try to copy it and then gradually individualize it until it is something new, I can't do that at this time. If, you can there were some things relating to that. She also had some tips regarding the navigating and dealing with things in the industry. That's not a goal of mine, but if it is for you, again it may be a more useful book for you. But for the complete newb like myself, I just didn't gather much - I haven't gotten to rating them yet, but found guitar scales in context and how to write songs on the guitar to be much more useful books for me.

About Geoffrey Hoppe Geoffrey A. Hoppe was born and raised in the Midwest United States in a large Catholic family. His interest in spirituality and metaphysics started at the age of 19 when he hypnotized a friend. While in a trance state the friend began to recount a series of previous lifetimes. Geoffrey immersed himself into the study of metaphysics and religion for the next several years. His spiritual journey was all but forgotten for nearly 20 years with the demands of his business career. Geoffrey worked for several advertising agencies and manufacturing companies in the Midwest and Texas in senior marketing positions. At age 28 he started a marketing consulting company in Dallas, Texas, operating it for 12 years with industrial and high tech clients throughout the United States. He co-founded an aviation telecommunications company where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing until 2001. Geoff holds two U.S. patents and one international patent for multidimensional telecommunications technologies, and numerous trademarks and copyrights. Tobias first presented himself to Geoffrey in 1997 on an airplane flight and they “talked” for nearly a year before Geoffrey channeled Tobias for another person. Tobias provided deep insights into their past lives and current challenges and, after his return to the physical realms in 2009, Geoffrey now channels Adamus Saint-Germain. Geoffrey founded the Crimson Circle in 1999, and it quickly developed an international audience. The Essence of Everything

It’s been a long time since a spiritual book caught my interest, because an honest seeker comes to a point where there are simply no more books to read, nothing new to learn and nothing left to seek. It’s all been said already in some form or another and all that’s left is to live and allow the realization.

It’s been even longer since a spiritual book captivated my attention from cover to cover, but this brilliant little book did just that. It’s so simple, so concise and so beautiful, as it brings together the heart of everything I have learned in my long lifetimes of searching: I exist. I can never not exist. I am Consciousness and the “act” that I choose to live out today is what determines the reality landscape that manifests around me. Creation is that simple and enlightenment is about simply allowing it to be.

If you are tired of seeking, tired of reading and studying and vainly trying to be a better person; if you are ready to let go of the struggle and simply allow yourself to Live and to Know, then this little book is for you.

After knowing the Hoppe's and their Adamus channelings since 2009 and after reading (and translating) their books before, I may / can / must say: this is a true breakthrough book. Spiritually inspiring and frightening in its directness; it does not diddle-widdle around metaphysical woolly concepts and "feel good" ideas and mental-emotional smooching caresses but goes right to the heart of - no, not of "matters" - but of life: how to integrate BOTH our natures and essences: the divine and the temporal. For me a "one out of maybe ten must read" books of this decade. Get it, read it, live it, pass it on, share enlightened living with your own self and others ... ;-)

Skim the first few chapters

Cheeke is a much better bodybuilder than he is a writer, and the book suffers terribly from very undisciplined and self-indulgent writing. Firstly, he talks about himself A LOT. The info you're after is in the book, but you have to wade through a lot of autobiographical guff that you're probably not very interested in. It's not that Cheeke seems like an egomaniac. Actually, he seems like a really nice guy. It's just that writing about himself is probably easier for him than writing genuinely helpful and well-organised content, so that's what he does most of the time. A good editor would have guided him away from this, but the book clearly never touched the hands of a proffessional editor.

The other problem with Cheeke's writing style is that he has a tendency to waffle and repeat himself. Take the following passage:

"One cannot achieve anything without consistency of applied effort. The more consistent someone is, the more success they are bound to have. If you hope to put on muscle, you will have to put in the work consistently with your training and nutrition programs or you simply won't achieve what you set out to do. Success simply isn't possible if you don't adhere to consistency to see it through. It is a physiological impossibility to put on muscle without consistency in good nutrition and training programs."

Good grief. That's FIVE sentences in a row that essentially say EXACTLY THE SAME THING! At least the guy's consistent, I guess, har har har. Jokes aside, this problem appears throughout the book, and pretty soon you're left with grossly inflated book that only has a couple of pamphlets' worth of real content in it. Too much bulk and not enough cut.

When he isn't talking about himself or going around in circles like an over-enthusiastic drunk, Cheeke's written a pretty good book with some solid information in it. It just needed to go into the hands of a professional editor, who would have cut it down by three quarters, or else forced Cheeke to contribute more useful content.

So, I do recommend the book. It's too verbose and disorganised to be of much use as a frequently-picked-up reference, but it's a decent one-time read, as long as you don't mind skimming all the fluff. It deserves 3 stars, but since it's one of the few vegan books in a field generally dominated by meatheads (in both senses of the word), it's the best we currently have, so I give it 4 stars.

I bought this book to help me and my son. We are vegan and prefer to not look like starved under weight vegans. It was very informative and gave me fantastic guides lines to grow on.

Meat is no longer manly! Get the body you want without harming animals....

I really enjoyed this book. I am an ultra runner who loves to lift weights, and I was just looking for something a bit more simplified and to the point on how to change my physique a bit. I like how he gives many different meal plans and exercise plans, as well as specific workouts and ways to structure you week in the gym or out of the gym. No 'one approach for all' here. Thank goodness. He outlined how he and others exercise and eat, what has worked for him and others, and based on the information in the book, you pick what works for you.

It helped me to get back to a routine of lifting more structurally, instead of going to the gym and lifting a bit for the upper and lower 2-3 times a week. Instead I am going to the gym 3-5 times a week, for 45-90 minutes with a plan. I KNOW what I am going to focus on and that has helped tremendously.

He talks a bit on making bodybuilding your career and such, but I don't know why anyone would say he made this book only about him. He is very successful and a positive person. I enjoyed his attitude and positive outlook during the entire book. Only good things can come to your life from reading this!

If you are looking for a highly motivating body building book that breaks the stereotype that meat is manly, look no further. Robert is ALL man without harming animals, and that is just as sexy as a six pack.

Great book for a light Machu Picchu discovery.

We bought this book while at Machu Picchu and then promptly left the bag in our supper restaurant. Sad sad. Though we could not read it while in Peru, I ordered it on Amazon and had it delivered to a friend who then brought it to us when we met in Cartagena. It's a great book.

I wanted to like this more than I did.

This was what seemed to be a very accurate book on the period. But the text felt to me very dense, hard to understand, and especially hard for kids (mine are 6 and 10 and as a mother will always say, smart.) I was hoping for something that more clearly laid out the timelines of the Incan Empire and the Spanish invasion and put the events in sequence that they could digest. I found myself reading the material to my six-year old, then going back through it in my own words after I had done that. This is the best book I could find on the topic for kids, but I still thought the text was unnecessarily dense. For example to describe some of the tribes before the Incas, phrases like "During quests to take over their land... they were conquered" or "they served their new Inca rulers." I first had to explain a quest, conquer, and what "serving a ruler" meant- I'm frankly not even sure. If you are going to say stones were fitted together without mortar, few kids actually know what mortar is. Either use more sentences and make them simpler and explain those concepts, or don't use those words. It seems like the language in unnecessarily dense or maybe just odd word choices that result in text that isn't easy to explain to the targeted demographic. Either way, requires a lot of adult involvement for this book to make sense to either age.
